HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 3-46BESOLUTION NO. 3-46 A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING 'CON- STRUCTION OF A HIGHWAY FROM SAN LUIS 0BISPO. EASTWARD TO THE CALIFORNIA BORDER_ NEAR KINGMAN, .ARIZONA. WIIEREAS, t.here is no main highway laterally travers- ing the State of California south of the highway from San Francisco to the California border near Reno, Nevada, and north of the Tehachapi Range; and WHEREAS, the economic, industrial and agricultural development of the southern part of the San Joaquin Valley would be materially hastened by the construction of a highway from San Luis Obispo to Bakersfield and then by way of Kern River and Walker Pass to the Naval Ordnance Test Station at Inyokern, and then by the most direct route to the California border near Kingman, .Arizona; and WIIEREAS, the development of such a highway would provide an all-year-round lateral route across the State of California and would serve the 7~00 persons now permanently stationed at the Naval Ordnance Test Station at Intokern; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Bakersfield, at its regular meeting at 8 o'clock P. M., on the lgth day of .April, 1946, unanimously endorsed the proposed construction of said highway and recommends to the Joint Fact-Finding Committee on Highways, Streets and Bridges, the feasibility and advisability of such a direct route between San Luis Obispo and the California border near Kingman, ,Arizona. ...... I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bekersfield, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day of April, 1946, by the following vote: AYES: CARNAKIS, CROSS, NORRIS, RYDER, SIEMON, VANDE~LEI, VERCAMME[,I NOES; ........ ~ ................................. -~--~ ABSENT: .........
