Bakersfield, California, December 26, 1945
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Council of the
City of Bakersfield, California, held in the Council Chamber of
the City Hall at eight o'clock P.M., December 28, 1945.
Present: Carnakis,Cross,Norris,Ryder,Siemon,Vercammen,Vanderlei
Absent: None
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 1V, 1945,
were r sad and approved as read.
Adoption of resolution re allocation of
1000 units to meet the present housing
emergency.
Upon motion by Carnakis, seconded by Cross, a resolu-
tion already adopted by the Kern County Board of Supervisors
askin~ the housing authority of Kern County to make a request
from the NHA for an allocation of 1,000 units to meet the
present existing housing emergency needs for cities in the
County of Kern was adopted as read by the following vote:
Ayes: Carnakis,Cross,Norris,Ryder,Siemon,Verc~mmen,Vanderlei
Noes: None
Absent: None
Permit granted Keller Metals, Inc. to
lay red paving in front of new building
at 321 - 21st Street.
Upon motion by Carnakis, seconded by Norris, permission
was granted the Keller Metals, Inc., to lay red paving in front
of their new building at ~21 - 21st Street, under specifications
provided by the City Engineer.
Adoption of resolution cove~ing the
proposed annexation of uninhabited
territory and setting time for hearing.
Upon motion by Vanderlei, seconded by Vercnmmen,
resolution covering the proposed annexation of uninhabited
territory within the incorporated limits of the City of
Bakersfield described as a parcel of land lying North of
Bernard Street and East of the proposed extension of Magnolia
Street, and setting the date of hearing on same at eight
o'clock P.M. January 14, 1946, was adopted as read by the

Joint Special Housing Committee
Emergency Housing
December 21, 1945
WHEREAS, A joint committee from Bakersfield and Kern County Chambers
of Commerce, Business and Labor, has met and made studies to deter-
mine the needs for emergency housing in cities and communities here,
and
~A~E~EAS, The Federal Government has announced a program to forward
funds to me~t emergency housing needs in cmmmunities of the United
States where needs exist, and
WHEREAS, All groups and interests have been considered and agreed
that there is an immediate need for emergency housing in this county,
Therefore be it
RESOLVED: That the Bakersfield City Council and the Kern County Board
of Supervisors, ask the Housing Authority of Kern County to make a
request from the NEA for an allocation of ONE THOUSAND UNITS (1000)
to meet the present existing housing emergency needs for the cities
and communities in the County of Kern, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED: That a copy of the resolution be sent the Bakers-
field and Kern County Chambers of Co~neroe, the City Councils, the
Board of Supervisors, NHA, FPHA, and HAKC.
