~'fiF~E.&S, Section 1~96 of the military and 'Veterans
code, Chapter 920, Statutes of 1943, provides:
"The California State ~Yar. Cotmci! shall
establish by rule and regulation various
classes of civilian defense workers and
the scope of the duties of each class·
The California State ~ar Council shall
also adopt rules and reg~ations prescrib-
ing the manner in which civilian defense
workers of each class are to be registered.
All such rules and regulations shall be
designed to facilitate the paying of work-
men's compensation.~ and
W~fE~EaS, the california State War Council on the 7th day
of October, 1943, adopted rules and regulations establishing
classes of civilian defense workers, the scope of the duties of
each class and the manner of registration of such workers, and
W~EREAS, Section 1~97 of the ~ilitary and Veterans Code,
Chapter 920, Statutes of 1943, provides:
~'~ny civilian defense organization which
botia agrees to follow the'rules and regula-
tions established by the California State
War Council pursuant to the provisions of
Section i596 of this code and substantially
complies with such rules and regulations
shall be certified by the California State
~ar Council. Upon making the certification,
and not before, the civilian defense organ-
ization becomes an accredited civilian defense
organization.~', and
the City of Bakersfield has registered and will
hereafter register civilian defense workers for participation in
either civilian protective services or civilian. war services, and
WP~fiEaS~ the City of Bakersfield desires to-become an
"accredited civilian defense organization;' in order that injured
civilian defense workers registered with it may benefit by the
provisions of Chapter 920, Statutes 19~3,
NO~, Ti~iiEi~OnE~ the City Council of the City of Bakers-
i'ield hereby agrees to follow the rules and regulations established
by the California 5tare '~3'ar council under date of October 7, 1943,
pursuant to the provisions of Section 1596 of the iVlilitary and
Veterans Code~ Chapter 920, 5tatutes of 1943.
The City Clerk is hereby instructed to send two certified
copies hereof to the California ~tate ~qar Co~cil.
