A RESOLUTION RELIEVING THE FIDELITY AND DEPOSIT
COMPANY OF MARYLAND OF ALL LIABILITY AS SURETY
0N THAT CERTAIN BOND DATED AUGUST 20, 1938, C0VER-
ING WALTER WILSON SMITH.
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield did on or
about the 14th day of April, 1941, pass its Emergency Ordinance
Number 580 New Series~ providing that officers of the City of
Bakersfield shall furnish bonds, the term of which shall not
exceed one (1) year, said bonds to be furnished annually there-
after,
AND WHEREAS said ordinance is still in full force and effect
and has not been amended~
AND WHEREAS~ the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland,
as Surety, has heretofore executed an official bond covering
Walter Wilson Smith, Tax Collector~ License Collector, City Treasurer
and Ex-Officlo Treasurer of the Firemen's Retirement Fund of the
City of Bakersfield~ County of Kern~ State of California~ on account
of any acts of the said Walter Wilson Smith~ said bond being execut-
ed on the 20th day of August, 1938~ in the penalty of Forty Thousand
and No/lO0 ($40,000.00) Dollarst covering the said Walter Wilson
Smith for an indefinite term beginning August 17, 1938,
AND WHEREAS, the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland
intends to furnish a new bond in compliance with Emergency Ordinance
Number 580 New Series, above referred to,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD, as follows:
That the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Naryland is hereby
relieved of any and all liability of every kind and nature on account
of any acts of Walter Wilson Smith under the bond above referred to,
which was executed on the 20th day of August, 1938, accruing from and
after the date of the filing and approval of a new bond covering Walter
Wilson Smith, Tax Collector, License Collector, City Treasurer and

Ex-Officio Treasurer of the Firemen's Retirement Fund of the City
of Bakersfield, County of Kern, State of California, said bond to
be furnished by said Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, at a regular
meeting thereof held on the/7~ay of November, 1941, by the
following vote:
