FEDERAL LEGISLATION PROVIDING
FOR FLOOD CONTROL ON KERN RIVER.
NO. 3-41
WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers of the United States
Army instituted investigations of flood conditions on the Kern
River in California early in 1937 and completed the investiga-
tion and report in 1939, which report, we are reliably informed,
was subsequently approved by the Board of Engineers for Rivers
and Harbors on or about March 26, 1940, and
WHEREAS, as a result of disastrous floods in the years
1937 and 1938, damage to the extent of several millions of dollars
was caused by this river, and recent surveys of snow pack in the
mountains in which the watershed of this stream is situated indicate
conditions similar to those of the years 1937 and 1938,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield, County of Kern, State of California, that the Flood
Control Committee of the House of Representatives be urged to in-
clude the Kern River Project in any legislation for authorization
of flood control projects which may be presented to the House of
Representatives during the present session in order that additional
great losses of property may be averted.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 24th day of March, 1941, by the follow-
