WHEREAS, the California State Committee for the President's
Birthday Celebration in charge of raising funds for the fight against
infantile paralysis has designated January 15 to January 31, 1940,
as the period for raising such funds; and
WHEREAS, the Kern County Committee of the Infantile Paralysis
Campaign has been designated to raise $7500.00; and
WHEREAS 50% of this money is to be retained in Kern County
for the purpose of treating and rehabilitating crippled children of
this county; and
WHEREAS, it has been shown that infantile paralysis is
causing untold suffering and untold damage to the people in Kern County
as well as the country at large;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD that it endorses this worthy movement and officially
designates this period from January 15 to January 31, 1940, to aid
the cause of stamping out infantile paralysis and urges all-individuals
and groups to cooperate to the best of their ability.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 15th day of January, 1940, by the follow-
ing vote:
