WHEREAS, Senate Bill Nb. 2009, now pending in the United
States Senate, provides for the regulation of carriers by rail,
highway and water under the jurisdiction of the Inter-State Commerce
Commission~ and
WHEREAS the passage of this bill and its effective adminis-
tration will undoubtedly make a very substantial contribution to the
welfare of the transportation system throughout the nation,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD does hereby petition and urge Congressman Alfred J.
Elliott to do everything within his power in support. of the passage
of Senate Bill No. 2009.
