area drained by such streams constitutes one of the outstanding fish-
ing and recreational areas in Sout~srn California; md

to many thous~ds of persons ~mch stre~as are being rapidly depleted
'~f fish ~d it is r~asonable to expect ~zill, in the near fut~s,
become totally e~u~ted; ~d
~AS, s~h strem~ s~o~ld, w'ithout delay, be restocked
with at least one million fi~ ~er year~
~ W~EAS, past e~erience and present needs show the
need of a State Fish ~tchery to serve such stre~s ~d area
NOW, T~~RE, BE IT RESOLVED'that the Co~cil of the
City of B~ersfield does hereby petition the. Governor of the Stste
of Califor~a ~d ~e Fish ~d G~e Cozission of said state to cause
a State Fish Hatchery. to be ~mmediately established and thereafter
maintained on ~he Kern Rivsr for the p~pose of restocking said
river ~d its tributaries as well as all other stre~s ~?ithin the
~ea.
~ BE IT ~T~R BESOL~ID t~t the City Clerk be ~d ~e
is hereby authorized and inst~ctsd to certify and forward a copy
of t~s resolution to the Governoz~ ~d to the members of the Fish
~d Game Cohesion of the State of California.
