WHEREAS, the immediate preservation of the public
peace, property, safety and welfare of the inhabitants of the
City of Bakersfield require the passage of an emergency resolu-
tion establishing ' the general prevailing rate of per diem
wages in connection with the construction of Sewage Treatment
Plant, et cetera, under a P. W. A. Docket No. Calif. 1892-F.
A~D V~EREAS, it has been ascertained that the general
prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality of said City
of B~ersfield for classes or types of work needed to execute
contracts on public works in accordance with Section 1770 of
the Labor Code of the State of California, to be as follows:

The rate for my employee not covered in the above schedule shall be
the general prevailing wage and shall not be less than seventy-two
($.72) cents per hour.
Overtime work (except Watchmen ~nd Guards) and work on the follow-
ing days shall be paid for at double the above rates: New Year's
Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Admission Day,
Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Sundays.
This resolution shall take effect from and after its
passage and approval.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at
a regular meeting thereof held on the 20th day of February, 19~9,
by the following vote:
