NO. 2-39
WHEREAS, the National Committee for the fight against
Infantile Paralysis has designated January 1S, 1939, to January
30, 1939, as a period to raise funds for fighting this dread
disease; and
'a~LEREAS, the Kern County Committee, under the leader-
ship of Dr. Joe Smith, has been designated to carry on the drive
in the County of Kern and raise the sum of $7800.00 for work to
prevent this disease, and
~j~HEPGEAS, the Kern bounty group will be apportioned 80%
of all the monies collected to use for rehabilitation work among
those stricken with infantile paralysis,
NOW, TH~;REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Council designates
the period between Januar~ 15, 1939, and January 30, 1939, as set
aside for the raising of funds in Bakersfield, and hereby endorses
this worthy cause to all people as a method of siding the eradica-
tion of infantile paralysis, and do earnestly urge all citizens and
groups to assist in every way possible in the success of the under-
taking.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield on the 16th day
of January, 1939, by the following vote:
