HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 7-38RESOLUTION NO. 7-38 WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfieldby ordinance did call a special municipal election to be held in the City of Bakersfield on Tuesday, the 30th day of August, 1938~ for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said city two propositions of incurring bonded indebtedness of the City of Bakers- field, as follows, to-wit: Proposition Noo l, incurring a bonded indebtedness in the sum of One hundred and eleven thousand dollars (Sill,000) for the acquisition and construction of a sanitary main sewer, sewage pumping station and sewage treatment plant; and Propos- ition Noo 2, incurring a bonded indebtedness in the sum of Sixty six thousand dollars ($88,000) for the acquisition and construction of a fire station building, equipping the same with the necessary furniture, fixtures and equipment, the acquisition of the necessary land for same and the construction of sidewalks and driveways pertinent to same; and WHEREAS, the public interest and necessity demand that the acquisition and construction of each of said municipal improve- ments, to-wit: the acquisition and construction of a sanitary main sewer, sewage pumping station and sewage treatment plant, and the acquisition and construction of a fire station building, equipping the same with the necessary furniture, fixtures and equipment, the acquisition of the necessary land for same and the construction of sidewalks and driveways pertinent to same be commenced before the end of the present calendar year; NOW THEREFORE, in the event either or both of the said propositions of incurring indebtedness, to-wit: Proposition No. l, incurring an indebtedness in the sum of One hundred and eleven thousand dollars ($111,O00) for the acquisition and construction of a sanitary main sewer, sewage pumping station and sewage treatment plant; and Proposition Noo 2, incurring an indebtedness in the sum of Sixty six thousand dollars ($88,000) for the acquisition and -1- construction of a fire station building, equipping the same with the necessary furniture, fixtures and equipment, the acquisition of the necessary land for same and the construction of sidewalks and driveways pertinent to same, shall fail to carry at said special municipal election called for that purpose on Tuesday, August 30, 1938, by at least the required two-thirds vote of the qualified voters of said City voting at such election, this Council will provide the necessary funds for the acquisition and construction of either or both of said municipal improvements as set forth under Propositions No. 1 and No. 2, so failing to carry at said election by increasing the tax rate of said City of Bakersfield for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1939, and fixing said tax rate not later than September 8, 1938, in a sufficient amount to defray the cost of said municipal improvements required to be expended by the City of Bakers field. ---~0o--- I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on the 28th day of July, 1938, by the follow- ing vote: C~~0fficio Clerk of the Council of the City of Bakersfield APPROV~ED by me this ~~day of July, 1938.
