WHEREAS, Dean Hurley, City Assessor, has grossly neglected
his official duties durin~ the past several weeks, being absent
from his office for long periods of_.time during the period when it
is most important that he give his entire time and Ms best services
to the duties of his office~
AND WHEREAS, the duties of said office are a public trust
the performsrice of which are of high importance to the City,
AND WHEREAS, in the judgment of the City Council the offense
of said Dean Hurley above mentioned justifies the exclusion of such
officer from the service of the City,
NOW1, TEEFORE, be it resolved that said Dean Hurley be and
he is hereby suspended from duty for the period of 30 days from
date hereof upon the ground of gross neglect of duty during the
past ~wo monthS~
And be it further resolved that the City-Attorney and the
City Nanager prepare written charges against said Dean Hurley for
such gross neglect of duty, setting forth therein specifications of
said gross neglect ,~ and cause the same to be filed with the Civil
Service Board of the Niscellaneous Department, and furnish copies
of such written charges to be served Qn the accused as required
by the City Charter.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 19th day of. April, 1937, by the follow-
