~.Y~4EREAS, the City of Bakersfield is the owner of the
traffic circle at the intersection of Golden State Avenue and
Chester Avenue and has named the same GarcSs Circle,
A~D WHEREAS said circle is at the approximate location
of the spot where Francisco GarcSs first camped in the territory
now comprising the City of Bakersfield and it is therefore a
landmark,
NOW, THEi~E~ORE, DE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD that the consent of the City of Bakersfield is
hereby given to P. N. Root to apply to the Director of the Depart-
ment of Natural Resources to have such landmark listed by the
Director of the Department of Natural Resources as a registered
landmark.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
