~HEREAS efforts are being made to improve and increase
the harbor and shipping facilities at the harbor of San Buenaven-
tufa, California, popularly kno~vn as VentUra,
AND WHERFAS aid is being sought on behalf of said harbor
from the United States,
AND WHEREAS the said harbor of San Buenaventura is closer,
both in time and distance than any other 'harbor to the City of
Bakersfield, Kern County, California, and to other points in Kern
County and the San Joaquin Valley,
AND V~EREAS the said Kern County and nearby districts in
the interior of California produce large quantities of petroleum
.and many agricultural products, which require outside markets,
AND WHEREAS these areas~ are constantly 'being developed,
and are capable of further development with a large increase of
population,
THEREFORE, DE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Bakersfield does hereby endorse the improvement of San
Buenaventura Harbor and urges the representatives of this district
in Congress and other federal agencies td support the same.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution ?ras passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
