A RE~OLUTION E~OR-~I~,~G AND APPROVING HE ACTION
OF TH3,~] LE~GUE OF CALIFORNIA MUNICIPALITIES AT
ITS LAST MEETING IN REQUESTING THE APPROPRIATION
BY THE ST,~TE OF A CERTAIN ~iv~ FOR INVeSTIgATIONS
A~ REaE~R~ I~T ME~0DS OF SEWAGE A~ ~VASTES

WHEREAS, California cities, towns and sanitary districts
are being faced with problems of.disposing of their sewage and in-
dustrial wastes under peculiar seasonal and climatic conditions which
complicate-the problems or make them Unique, thus ~endering in-
applicable or of doubtful value methods and* standards developed
elsev~here, and
~EREAS, these .pressing problems are of vital concern to all
communities, large and small, and their separate investigations would
involve, i~ some cases, prohibitive expense and in many cases waste-
ful duplication of money and effort, and
~EREAS, the State is the logical agenc]F to.undertake the
solution of common problems, par~icularl~ those affecting the health
of its citizens, now, therefore, ~ it is'hereb~
RESOLVED, b~ the Council! 'of the CitZ of Bakersfield, that
the action of the League of California ~unicipalities, at its last
meeting, requesting 'the appropri~tion by the state.of not less than
~6~,000 for the establishment and maintenance during the next bien-
nium of the proper and necessary: facil'ities for investigations and
research in ~ethods of sewage and wastes disoosal and treatment, be
and the same is hereby~~ endorsed' &nd approved and this CoUncil does
hereby respectfully urge t'he Leg~.slature of the State of California
to adopt. suitable legislation to~ ac~complish these pUrpose's;
RESOLVED, FUR~ER, tha~ the members of the Legislature from
the district in which this city ~s situated, .are hereb~r reouested to
lend special effort to the furtherance of the purposes here in express-
ed and the adoption of the necessary legislation to accomplish the
same,
.RE.SOLVED, PURTH.ER, that'. the City Clerk be and he is hereby
directed to transmit certified copie.s of this resolution to the Hon.
