A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE MUSIC STAND AS
MEMORIAL TO HENRY A. JASTR0, HERETOFORE
BUILT BY LOUISE J. CHADBOURNE AND MAY J.
KOSHLAND, EXECUTRICES OF THE ESTATE OF HENRY
A. JASTR0. :.~::.
'~TEREAS, Henry A. Jastro, now deceased', in and hi. his
Last Will and Testament did direct the Executrices of his Will
'to expend out of the funds of his Estate, the sum of Fifteen
· Thousand ($15,000.00) Dollars, in and about the erection and
construction of a Music Stand, as a memorial to himself, which
structure was directed to be constructed and erected in Jastro
Park, in the City of Bakersfield, and said Executrices were
directed to consult with the City Council of Bakersfield with
respect to the erection and construction of said Music Stand;
and
.. WHEREAS, Louise J. Chadbourne and May J. Koshland,
daughters of the said Henry A." Jastro, deceased, and the
Executrices of his Last Will and Testament, did, in accordance
with the direction contained in. the Will of said Henry A. Jastro,
confer with the members of this Council with res~e'ct to' the
erection and construction of said Music Stand; and
WHEREAS, said Music Stand is now fully constructed and
erected at a place in said Jastr0 Park, in said Bakersfield,
selected and approved by the members of this Council and the said
Executrices above-named, and at an expenditure of the sum of
$15.,000.00, as'directed in and by 'the Will of said Henry A. 'Jastro,
deceased;. and
WHEREAS, the said Music' Stand was heretofore, .and immedi-
ately following its construction'' and erecti.on, dedicated by the
said Executrices 'of the Estate of said Henry A. Jastro, to the
purposes intended by his Will, and the said structure was then
formally accepted on behalf of the City of .Bakersfield, in
address then made by L. K. Stoner, the MayoP of Bakersfield, during
the course' of said dedication exercises; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable that a record be made
upon the Minutes of the proceedings of this Council, of the. erec-
.~ion and construction of said Music Stand, and of its acceptance
by the 0ity of Bakersfield;
NOW BE IT RESOLVEB, that the said Music Stand so caused
to be constructed and erected by the Executrices of the Last
Will And of the Estate of said Henry A. Jastro, deceased, in
accordance with the directions~in that behalf contained in his Will,
be ~nd the same hereby is cp ed by this council, on behalf of the
ac t
City of Bakersfield, as a memorial to said Henry A. Jastro, deceased.
