A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE INTERSTATE
COMMERCE COMMISSION =FOR A HEARING ON
THE PACIFIC COAST OF APpLICATiON A26'
FILE NO. 2118.
WHEREAS it has come to 6ur attention that the railway
companies have made application for relief under the Fourth
Section, Application A 28, File No. 2118, and have requested
the Interstate Commence Commission to-permit but one hearing
in this important matter, and
~HEREAS, the merchants of this city are deeply inter-
ested in this case, and desire an opportunity to be'hear in
protest aEainst the ~ranting.of this application, and
WHEREAS, we believe if but one hearing shouldlbe
held, that some city far distant from California might be
selected, and in t hat event, our witnesses would be unable to
attend and consequently a decision might be rendered materially
injuring this and like cities, and
WHEREAS, the Fourth Section decision of the Interstate
Commerce Commission in the case heard last year, met with the
approval of our commercial interests and has been the means of
enlarging our manufacturing and wholesale business, and
WHEREAS, our shippers realizing the importance of this
case are anxious to present their testimony before the inter-
state Commerce Commission, and have asked this Body to inter-
vene in their behalf,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSP~ELD, that a hearing be had in this matter on
the Pacific Coast in such cities 'as are convenient to the Inter-
state Commerce Commission, and that this Council suggests a
hearing be had in San Francisco, California, and that the City
Clerk of this .City be instructed to in~nediately transmit a copy
of this Resolution to the interstate Commerce Commission,
Washington, D. C., for their consideration.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the Foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield on
the 17th day of September, 1923, by the following vote:
