A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AN EDUCATIONAL
ORGANIZATION KNOWN AS "ASSISTAN?B IN
MATRICULATION (AIM)~ INCORPORATED."'
WHEREAS, it is universally recognized that the status. and
progress of our City, State and Nation is closely related to and
dependent upon 'the overall educational levelof all of'our citizens;
and . .'
WHEREAS, it is recognized that many. youngsters .of great
intellectual capacity fail to develop their intellectual potential
because of insufficient and inadequate guidance, encouragement,
motivation and assistance; and
WHEREAS, a large portion of this' wasted intellectual talent
is to be found among the so-called "culturally disadvantaged"
groups; and
WHEREAS, there has recently been organized in.~he .City of'
Bakersfield an entirely non-profit civic organimationknown as
"ASSISTANTS'iN MATRICULATION (AIM~ INCORPORATED"'whose sole purpose
is the formulation and execution of programs'and activities designed
to encourage, motivate and assist talented junior high school and
high school students to aspire for and achieve a college education;
and · ..
WHEREAS, AIM is worthy of commendation and .encouragement
for its proposed program and objectives'.
NOW,. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield, as follows:
FIRST: We warmly commend all who have. participated in the
formulation of +ASSISTANTS IN MATRICULATION (AIM) INCORPORATED.
SECOND: We express gratitude on behalf of the City Of Bakers-
field for the inspired program and beneficial objectives proposed
by AIM which will assist and encourage our young people to attain
a higher level of education and respect.
THIRD: We urge all residents of our community to support
Assistants In Matriculation (AIM) Incorporated'in order that the
success of this worthy civic'project may be assured.

I HEREBY CF~TIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 5th day of December, 1960, by the
following vote:
