RESOLUTION NO. .90-60
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERS-
FIELD AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEYS
OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AND THE CITY AND COUNTY
OF SAN FRANCISCO TO REPRESENT THE INTEREST OF THE
CONSUMERS OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD BEFORE THE
CALIFORNIA STATE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION .IN THE
MATTER OF THE APPLICATION OF THE PACIFIC GAS AND
ELECTRIC COMPANY FOR AN. INCREASE IN GAS RATES.

WHEREAS, the Pacific Gas and Electric Company in Application
No. 42225 has applied to the California. PUblic Utilities Commission
for an increase in gas rates in the amount of $26,600,000, for the
test year 1961, approximating a 20~ increase in the cost of gas to
the average domestic customer and a 12% increase to other general
service firm customers; and
WHEREAS,. the Paciflc Gas and Electric Company has requested
the increased rates to cover the increased cost of gas purchased
from the El Paso Natural Gas Company, which purchases represent
approximately 75% of all gas purchased by the Company, anq increased
costs of labor, materials, services, taxes and other types of
expenses;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, .by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield, that the City Attorney of the City of Bakersfield
and the City Attorney of the City and County 'of San Francisco are
authorized and directed to represent the interests of the consumers
of the City of Bakersfield before the California Public Utilities
Commission in the matter of the Application of Pacific 'Gas and
Electric Company for an increase in the rates charged for natural
gas service.
