WHEREAS,.
portion of State Highway. No. 178, located within
the limits of the City of Bakersfield, is proposed for realignment
by the State of California; and
WHEREAS, Josh Clarke has de~oted his time to the betterment
of this community, and espe.ially to the impr.vement and extension
of Highway No. 178; and
~rHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate and prope'r that recognition
be given to Mr. Clarke's efforts, and it is the desire of the Council
of~ the City of Bakersfield to ho~or such unselfish and untiring work

NOW,..THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF.
BAKERSFIELD, that the planned freeway section of Highway 178, which
will commence approximately at 24th and "M" Streets and terminate
at Alta Vista Drive and Niles Stree.t in the City of Bakersfield, shall
be known as and officially designated .n all maps and records .f the'
City-as "'CLARKEWAY" in tribute to Mr. Josh Clarke.
