A~RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL 0F. THE CiTY OF BAKERS-
FIELD DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO C·ALL'A SPECIAL'
ELECTION IN CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY CONTIGUOUS·
TO SAID CITY PROPOSED TO ·BE ANNEXED THERETO, ,FOR
· ' THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ,QUALIFIED· ELECTORS
,. RESIDING IN SAID· TERRITORY THE' QUESTION WHETHER SA·ID
· ' TERRITORY SHALL BE ANNEXED TO THE· CITY OF BA,KERS-
FIELD, AND FIXING A TIME AND PLACE WHEN AND WHERE
ANY PERSON OWNING REAL· PROPERTY'WITHIN SUCH TERRI:TORY
MAY APPEAR BEFORE 'SAID COUNCIL· AND SHOW CAUSE WHY.
SUCH TERRITORY SHOULD·NOT BE S0 ·ANNEXED.
BE iT RESO~·VED by ~he Council of the .City of Bakersfield:
SECTION 1. That it is.the intention of' the· CoUncil 'of the
'City of Bakersfield to call a specia! electS'on to be 'held in certain
inhabited territory contiguous to said city, proposed to ~e annexed
thereto, for 'the pur. po se of .submitting Ito ·tHe qualified .SlectorS
residing in ·said territory the queStipn whether or· not said~ territory·
shall be. annexed 'to the City of BakSrsfield ~:nd the' property in the
territory to be annexed be subjected to taxation after annexation
equally with the property within the-City of. Bakersfield, to pay the
bonded indebtedness of the ·City-of Bakersfiel'd outstanding for the
acquisition, construction' Or completion of municipal improvements.
That a description of said territory is ~ttached her. et·o mark~ed
EXhibit A, and made a part hereof, -- '

identified for such election purposes and 'for use upon the ballots

SECTION 3. Notice is hereby given'. that on the 28th day of-
March, 1960, at the hour of 8:00 P.M., 'in the' council Chamber in the
City Hall,' 1501 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, California, any person
~'i~g '~'al property within said territory so proposed to be annexed
and having any objection to the p~6posed annexation 'may appear before
said Coun6il and show cause why such terri,tor'y Should no~' be so
annexed. Such protest must b'e filed in writing not ~later than the
hour set for hearing objections to the e~ection, and shall state in
general terms the name or names of the owner or om~ers of the property
affected and the location and area of such property~
SECTION 4- That theeCity Clerk shall certify. to the' adoption
of this resolution and cause the-same to be published once a week for
two successive.weeks in a newspaper of general circulation published
in the territory proposed to be annexed,~ or, if.there is none'~ 'in a
newspaper of general circulation published in.the city..
A parcel of land situate in the County of Kern, State of Calif-
ornia, and being a portion of Section 36, Township 29 South,
Range 27 East, M.D.M., and also a 'portion of Section 1, Town-
ship 30 South, Pange 27 East, M.D.M:, beSinning at the north-
west (N.W.) comer of Lot 12, Block 4, as said corner is shown
on ~he map of ~he "Gonde Tract" recorded May 2, 1910, in Book
I of Maps, at page-144, in the .'office of the County Recorder
of said Kern County; thence southerly along the easterly boundary
line of 'A' Street of 82.5 feet in width, and the southerly pro-
longations-thereof, and as said 'A' Street is shown on said map
of the 'Goode Tract", on and along-the corporate boundary of the
City of-Bakersfield~ as ssme is defined by that certain Special
Election held March 21, 1939, and the result of which Special
Election was certified, March 29, 1939, by the Secretary of State,
State of California, to intersect the northerly boundary line of
Bellerue Road, also known as Brundage Lane, of 60 £eet in width;
thence continuing sourJ3erly, departing from the corporate boundary
of the City of Bakersfield, along the southerly prolongation of
the said easterly boundary line of 'A' Street to intersect the
southerly boundary line of said Brundege Lane; thence westerly
along last named southerly boundary line and the westerly pro-
longation thereof, parallel with and distant 30 feet southerly,
as measured perpendicular to the northerly boundary of said Section
1, to intersect the westerly boundary line of Hu~es Lane, of
60 fee~ ~n width, a point on the easterly boundary of Lot 12,
Block ~, as said Lot 12, Block i is shown on the '~qap of Clover-
dale", reco~'ded August 26, 1911, in Book 2 of Maps~ at page 32,
in the office of the said County Recorder; thence northerly
alon~ the said easterly boundary of Lot 12, Block 1, to inter-
secc ~he northerly boundary of said Section 1; thence continuing
northerly alon~ the northerly prolongation of T/xe easterly
boundary of said Lot 12, 8lock 1, on and along the corporate
boundary of the City of Bakersfield, as smee is defined by that
certain annexation designated as "Spruce Addition No. 1', as
annexed by a Special Election h&ld June 2~, 1958, and approved
by Ordinance no. 1188, New Series, adopted June 30, 1958, and
filed August 11, ~958, with the said Secretary of State, to
intersect the northerly boundary line of said Brundage Lane; thence
easterly alonS last named northerly boundary line~ parallel with
and distant 60 feet northerly, as measure~t perpendicular to the

of the City of Bakersfield, as ass is defined by said Ordinance

that certain annexation designated as "Cedar ~ardens", adopted
February 14, 1950, by Ordinance So. 859, Bow Series,-and filed
March 18, 1950, with the said Secretary of State, said last named
southeast corner being described by said Ordinance He. 859, . New
Series, as a "point on the easterly boundary of the Southwest
of Section 36~ Township 29 South, hnSe 27 Bast, X.D.B. & M.,
distant thereon 721.38 feet northerly, free the southeast comer
thereof"; theuce continuing northerly along the easterly boundary
line of-the southwest quarter (S.W.1/4) of said Jection 36, on and
alan2 the corporate boundary of the City of Bakersfield, as see
is defined by said Ordinance So. 159, b Series, to intersect
the westerly prolongation of the southerly boundary line of Second
Street, as said Second Street is shown on the mop of the said
eGoode Tract"; thence easterly along the last named westerly
prolon2ation-on and along the corporate boundary of the City of

an Election held September 28, 1926, the result of which Election
was filed October 6, 1926 with the said Secretary of State, to
intersect the westerly boundary line of said "&m Street; thence

southerly boundary line of Second Street, on and along the
corporate boundary of the City of Bakersfield as smm is defined
by the aforesaid Special Election,-held March 21, 1939, to the
northwest (N.W.) corner of said Lot 12, Block 4, "Coode Tract'e,
and to the point of beginning, containin2 5.378 aeres of land-
more or less.
