RESOLUTION RELATIVE TO.A PROPOSED
:?ARI-HUTUEL OPERATION'IN THE VICINITY
. OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA.
WHERZAS, it has been repQrted.that"on August '18,. i959, the
Fifteenth Distric"t Agricultural Associa tioh passed are soluti'on
requesting the Public Works Bo?-rd:-t6 allocate. funds. to the District
for the pur:pose of an architectural study and the' drawing of" plans
for .the construction of a race track and ~s~ociated.facilitiei, and
. the. ;reasibili ty of inovine; and converting the. existing grandstand into
a grandstand suitable for a pari"'mutuel operation,. and
WHEREAS, it l'ITaS recently reported that a. commi t.tee .,of the
Fifteenth District Agricultural Association ha~ st.udied this matter'
fora period of a year, and

WffBREAS, there was no knowledge on the part'ot the citizens
of this' c ornmuni ty or on the part bfthe.C i ty C ounc i"l or the Hayor
of the City of Bakersfield, that s:1i~h a study was under way to make
possible a pari"'mut'J.eloperation of a racetrack, arid'
. ~~ERZAS, this Council has receivedprotest~ from. a number of
citizens and organiza.tions of this co:m..m.unity against the conducting

vlliEREAS, it is the desire of the Council to obtain more informa'"
"tion for the benefit ?f the people they represent as to what is
'contemplated in the proposed operation.
