JACK LEVY, for many years a citizen of the City of Bakersfield,
has devoted himself to service of his fellow man and the community
at large.
Ever on the alert to protect the citizens 0f thi~ community
against the importunities of the charlatan and the grifter, he w~c
instrumental in bringing into'existence the ordinance creating ~
Board of Charity Appeals.
Serving faithfully en the Board of Charity Appeals for over
twelve years, he energetically and zealously guarded the citizens
of this city from the efforts of those who sought, .in the name of
charity, to extract money from the public for their own selfish
benefit.
His years of labor were given freely and unselfishly on bohslf
of the City of Bakersfield and the citizens of this community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the City Council of
the City of Bakersfield, do hereby convey to JACK LEVY the apprecim-
tion of this Council for his outstanding ~ervices as a nomber of
the Board of Charity Appeals.

I. HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
ad~pted by the Co,~neil of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
m~eting thereof held on the 17th day of August, 1959, by the follow-
ing vote:
