BEFORE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE
COUNTY OF KERN AND THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
JOINT RESOLUTION TERMINATING AND
ABOLISHING THE BAKERSFIELD-KERN
COUNTYAREA PLANNING COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, on the llth day of March, 1957 and on the 12th day of
March, 1957, the Council of the City of Bakersfield and the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Kern, respectively, passed and adopted'
a Joint Resolution Establishing Bakersfield-Kern County Area Planning
Commission; and
WHEREAS, although the said Bakersfield-Kern County Area Planning
Commission has performed many valuable services for Kern County and
for the City of Bakersfield in advance planning for the unincorporated
portion of the Greater Bakersfield area and for the City of Bakersfield,
it is now the sincere opinion of the Board of Supervisors and the City
Council that in order to eliminate duplication of effort, and in the
interest Of economy ~nd good goVernm~nt,"adVance '~lanning Services for
the unincorporated portion of Greater Bakersfield should be secured by
the County through the County ?lanning Commission and advance planning
Services for the City of Bakersfield should be secured by the City of
Bakersfield through the City Planning Commission, and that the said
~lanning Commissions should coordinate their efforts and activities in a
spirit of complete cooperation and united effort; and
WHEREAS, for said reasons it is the wish and desire of the said
Board of Supervisors and the said City Council to abolish the IBakersfield-
Kern County Area ?lanning Commission and to provide that said Area
Planning Commission shall cease to function immediately upon the adoption
of this resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT JOINTLY RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of Kern County and by the City Council of the City of Bakersfield, as
follows:
1. That the Bakersfield-KernCounty Area Planning Commission,
which Area Planning Commission was established by joint resolution of
the Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern and the Council of the -1-
City of Bakersfield be and it is hereby abolished and the said Area
Planning Commission shall cease to function immediately upon the
adoption of this joint resolution by the Board of Supervisors of Kern
County and by the City Council of the City of Bakersfield.
2. That the sincere thanks and appreciation of the Board of
Supervisors of Kern County and the said City Council of the City of
Bakersfield is hereby extended to each member of the aforesaid-Bakersfield-
Kern County Area Planning Commission 'for valuable services performed
by them while serving on said Area. Planning Cornmissiono
