RESOLUTION OF COOPERATION RELATIVE TO THE
LOCATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF FREEWAYS.
WHEREAS, the California State Highway Commission has made
its'decision relative to the location of freeways within the City
of Bakersfield and in other areas adjacent thereto, and
WHEREAS, in proceeding to develop the plans for the precise
location and. construction of said freeways, it will be necessary for
the City and the State to enter into certain agreements to facilitate
the development of said plans by the State Division of Highways and
to make precise surveys by said Department prior to the acquisition
of the necessary properties 'and the construction of said freeways',
and.
WHEREAS, in the development of said plans and in the construction
of said freeways the use of certain local streets and highways will
necessarily be altered, and
WHEREAS, a great number of property owners will be affected
by the construction of said freeways and their interchanges, and it
appears that an early determination of the precise locations of said
freeways will be to the advantage of said property owners and of the
public generally in the City and its vicinity, and that said precise
locations can best be determined by full cooperation between the State
and the political subdivisions involved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDby the Council of the City of
Bakersfield, that this Council desires to and does hereby express
its intention to cooperate to the fullest extent with the California
State Highway Commission and the Division of Highways in determining
the precise'location of said freeways and carrying out the State's
plans for the construction of the proposed freeways in and adjacent
to the City of Bakersfield.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 26th day of January, 1959, by the follow-
ing vote:
