Department of Commerce, Bureau of Census, has recently completed the taking of a special census in the City of Bakersfield and did on May 26, 1958, certify that the population cen- sus of said City on said date was 54,093, and .. WHEREAS, a certification of population of said City was re- ceived by the Clerk of the City of Bakersfield on May 29, 1958, and certifications of said population have been filed with G. T. McCoy, State Highways Engineer and Robert C. Kirkwood, State Comptroller, and vide s: WHEREAS, Section 101.3 of the Streets and Highways Code pro- The department shall replace or cause to be replaced any city limit road sign if all the following conditions ex- ist: (a) If the legislative body of a city requests the re pl ace me nt. (b) If the request is based upon a substantial change of population evidenced by a special or general federal census. (c) If no previous request has been made by the city within a period of five years. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the City of Bakersfield that said Council does hereby request the replacement by the .State Division of Highways, of all Division of Highways signs at the City Limits of the City of Bakersfield to indicate that the population of said City is now 54,093. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on the 9th Day of June, 1958, by the following vote: AYES: BALFANZ, BENTLEY, CARNAl(IS, COLLINS, CROES, DEWIRE, DOOUN, NOES: ABSENT: Council of the City of Bakersfield.
