A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BA_wEPaF. IELD FIXING A TIME AND PLACE FOR
m~.__.AR1NG!:PROTE~TS' .BY PERSONS OWNING REAL
PROPERTY WITHIN~ITERRITORY PROPOSED TO BE
ANNEXED, AND FIXING THE TIME AND PLACE FOR
HEARING PROTE~T~ ON THE PROPOSED ZONING OF
SAID PROPERTY.
WHEREAS, a petitionlwas filed with the Council of the City
of Bakersfield on-the~5th dayfief May, 1958, requesting that certain
uninhabited territory therein des6ribed be annexed to and incorporated
within the City of Bakersfield, and further requesting that said
territory be zoned as an R-4 (Hultiple-Family Dwelling) Zone, provided
that said territory ia annexed to the City, and
~R~AS-, said petition was signed by the owners of all of
the territory proposed to be annexed, and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has filed with this Council
its recommendation appreving the zoning of said territory as an R-4
Zone, provided said territory is annexed to the City of Bakersfield,

WEEREAS, it,is provided that a hearing shall be held before
said Council before ~he. zoning.of any property, and that notice be
given of said hearing not less $han ten (10) days before such hear-
ing in accordance with She zoning Regulation Ordinance No. 1010,
N; S., of the City of Bakersfield.
NOW, THEREFORE,'in..cempliance with the provisions of the
Annexation of llninhabi~eid Terrltery Act of 1939, Chapter 297, as
amended, BE 'IT RESOLVED by the. Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
That the bOundarieS= of the territory so proposed to be
annexed to the Oily']of BakerSfield 'are describsd as follows:
That certain parcel~ of land situate in the County of Kern~ State
of California, and being a portion of Section 19, Township 29
South, Ra~e a8 East. M.==D,' M.~ more particularly described as

Commencing at the'.northeas.~"~.E.) coruer of said. Section
thence S. 0° 13t 15" W., along the easterly boundary of said
Section 19, on and..along. t.~..:center-line of Union Avenue of 115-5
· ~feet in width, a distance df 719.61 feet, to intersect the west-
erly prolongation'of the southerly boundary line of Jeffrey
Street, as said Union Awenue and said Jeffrey Street are shown
on the map of Tract No. 1278, recorded November 1~, 19~6, in
Book 5 of Maps,.at page 195.,:.in the office of the County Recorder,
of said Kern Countyl thence N. 89' 1~' 40" W., to intersect the
westerly boundary line of said Union Avenue, distant 57.75 feet
westerly from, andas measured perpendicular to the easterly
boundary of said Section 191:and to the true point of beginning
for this description; the~.',.'e~S. 0° 13t 15" W., along last named
westerly boundary line,'on~"~A~d along the corporate boundary of the
City of Bakersfield,' as said.corporate boundary is defined by
that certain annexation known as "College Heights," adopted
Augustl0, 1953, by Ordinance'No. 984, New Series, and certified
September 10, 1953, by the Secretary of State State of Cali-
forILia, a distance of 640.00feet; thence N. A9e 14e 40" W., and
parallel with the northerly boundary of said Section 19, and
departing from the corporate'boundary of said City a distance of
240.00 feetl thence N. 26 '21~ W., a distance of'35~.65 feet;
thence N. 6° 29e ~0" E.,: distance of 183.62 feet; thence N. 1~°
10t ~0" W., a distance of 146.50 feet; thence S. 89° l~e 40" E.,
and parallel with' the northerly boundary of said Section 19, a
distance of ~15 feet, more or less to intersect the saidwesterly
boundaryline of Wnion Avenue, and to the true point of beginning,
containing 5-23~ acres of land, more or less.
That a designation appropriately naming such territory is
"GANNON N0.1." "
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Monday, the 9th day of June,
1958,.at the hour of eight o'clock P.M., in the council Chambers of
the City Hall, 1501 TruxtunAvenue, Bakersfield, California, is the
time when and the place where any person owning real property within
such territory so proposed to be annexed and having any objections
to the proposed annexation may appear before the Council of the City
of Bakersfield and show cause why such territory should not be annexed.
BE IT ALSOFURTHER RESOLVED, that in compliance with said
Zoning Ordinance No. 1~10,' N. S.. the City Clerk shall give notice
of the hearing for the .zoning of said property, which said hearing
shall be held before the Councilat the time and place set for the
hearing on said annexation.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing. Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council o£~he City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 12'~, day of May, 1958, by the following
