to be te the best interests of the residents of the Fifth Ward'and
of the Oi~y of Bakersfield as a whole, that a special election be
called for the purpose ef filling' the. vacancy existing in She office
of councilman from the Fifth Ward,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED. by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield, the_t a special election be held and the same is hereby
called to be held in the Fifth Ward of said City, for the purpose
of filling the existing vacancy in the office of councilman from the
Fifth Ward for the unexpired term thereof, which said election shall

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that candidates for the office of
Councilman from the Fifth Ward shall file with the City Clerk their
declarations.of candidacy and petitions for nomination in the form
and manner and within the time prescribed by Article VII of the Charter
of the City of Bakersfield.
I HEREBY CERTIFY SiXat the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of =the City of Bakersfield at a Special
