WHEREAS, ~e Ptamm~ Commission of the ~ity of Bakers-
field is developing the research data andLanalysis necessary to
prepare a comprehensive, long-te~m general plan for the physical
developmont..of the City, and
WHEREAS, said Commission has-devoted considerable time
and study.to ~he preparation of ~ plan for major thoroughfares' in
and abou~ said City, and
WHEREAS, said Planning Commission has preparsd and ladopted
said plan for thoroughfares as an inter~im thoroughfares plan pond-.
ing final and ConJuncttve recommendations of~ both the~City Planning
CommAsSign and ether interested governmental agoheirs and commissions,
and
WHEREAS, this Council believes that any plan I~or principal'
thoroughfares within and without +the City of Bakersfield should
result from the coordinated effOrtS'of both the City and the Oounty
and that any s~ch plan should ~e studied.andlconsidered by the
Bakersfield-Kern County Area Plaything Ce~mission before final action
thereon is taken by.legislative bodies of either the 0ity or the.
County, and
WHEREA~, this. Council-further believes that pending the
final adoption of any such plan the City of. Bakers~iSld should adopt
an interim thoroughfsr~s plan to guide new streets and"highways
development'within th~ City. thereby circumventinS future realignments
of thoroughfares an~I~dditienal expenses 'res,Alting therefrom,
NOW, THEREFORE, EE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield that the t_hor_oughfa~s plan heretofore adopted by

the same is hereby adopted by this Council as the interim Thorough-
fares Plan of the City of Bakersfield pending adoption of a1 final
plan by both the City of Bakersfield and the County-of Kern.'
