.RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIE CALLING A SPECLAb ELECTION
IN THE SECOND WARD OF SAID CITY FOR THE
PURPOSE OF F~LLING A VACANCY ON SAID COUNCIL,
TO BE: CONSOLI~_ATED WITH THE NONINATEG MUNICI-
PaL EBECTION TO BE HELD ON MARCH 19, 1957.
WHEREAS, a vacancy!has occurred in the office of Council-
man from the Second Ward.--by virtue of the resignation of Frank Sulli-
van, and
WHEREAS, in complia~x. ce with the wishes of a number of
electors from said Ward,.: and the' desire of this Council to keep the
expenses of elections at a minimum, this Council deems it advisable
and financially prudent' to call; a special election to be consolidated
with the nominating-municipal election to be held in said City on
March 19, 1957, for the purpose of filling, for the unexp. ired term,
the vacancy extsting='ln' the office of councilman from the Second Ward.
'NOW, TNEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield, that a special 'election be held and the same is hereby
called to be held in the lSeccnd Wsrd of said City, for the purpose of
filling the existing vacancy in the office of councilman from the
Second Ward for the unexpired term thereof, which said election shall
be and it is hereby ordered to be consolidated with the nominating
municipal election te be held on Tuesday, March 19, 1957-
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that candidates for the office of
councilman from the Second Ward for the ranexpired term thereof, shall
file with the City' Clerk their declarations of candidacy and petitions
for nomination in the form and manner prescribed by Article VII of the
City Charter, not later than the 22nd day of February, 1957.

and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 14~h day of January, 1957, by the follow-
