ELECTION HELD JUNE 5~ i956~ PERTADY~fG'TO
THE ANNEXATION OF GRD:~TER B~4.tCER. SFIELD i. iETRO~-
POLITAN AREA TO THE CiTY OF BAt~RSFIELD,
k~HEREAS, a written petition uas filed ~ith the Cobuacil of
the City of Bakersfield, requesting that certain inhabited territory
therein described, designated as Greater Bakersfield Metropolitan
Area, be annexed to the City of Bakersfiold, and
WHEREAS, this Council duly ~and regularly called rand. provided
for the holding of a special election in the territory- proposed to
be snnexed, mhich said election was hold on June 5, 1956, and
WtIEREAS, said special election was duly and. rogular!y con-
solidated with the State Consolidated Direct Primary Election and
Presidential Primary Election held on said date, and the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Kern was authorized to canvass the
returns of said special election and to-certify the results thereof
to this Council, and
t{[i~EAS, said Board of Su. pervisors and the Clerk thereof have
duly canvassed the votes cast at said special election and the absentee
ballots cast thereat, and said Board of Supervisors has adopted its
resolution stating the results of said special election, and the
same has been presented to this Com~cil und is on file with the City
Clerk.
N0~'I, THEREFORE, the Council of 'the City of Bakorsfield DOES
tD~Ri'-;BY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AI~D DECLx~RE ~:\S FOLIOUS:
1. That from the results of said special election. certified
to this Council as aforesaid, it appears and this Comcil hereby finds
and declares that the majority of votes cast at said special election
upon the question of the annexation of Greater Bakersfield Metropolitan
Area to the City of Bakersfield, were against said annexation..

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the. foregoing'Resolution was passed And
adopted. by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at an Adjourned
Meeting thereof held on the 29th day of June, '19~6,'by the following
vote:
