Section 75.5 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State
of California, provides that at any public hearing or meeting before
the Comraission or Department on the solection of any state highway
or freeway route at which comparative estimates are presented of
the benefits that would accrue to drivers of motor vehicles in the
use of alternative routes, cities or. counties affected may request
comparative estimates based on the effect the selection of either
route would have upon community values, including but not limited
to property values, state and local public facilities, and city
street and county highway traffic, end
WHEREAS, the District Engineer of District VI of the California
State Division of Highways has set a public hearing on June 14, 1956,
on the matter of the selection o~ a north-south freeway running
through or adjacent to the City of Bakersfield, and the Council of
the City of Bakersfield desires to be furnished with the comparative
estimates as set forth in said Section 75-5 of the Streets and Y~gh-
ways Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield, that pursuant to said Section 75-5 of the Streets and
Highways Code, the California State Division of High~ays is hereby
requested to furnish this Council with estimates based on the effect
the selection of alternative freeway routes would h~vs upon cormmunity
values, including but not limited to property values, state and
local public facilities, and city street and county highway traffic,
in cennection with the hearing to be held in Bakersfield, California,
on June 14, 1956.

I H~_LREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by ths Council of the City of Bakersfisld at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 28th day of May, 1956, by the following
