HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 15-56RESOLUTION W~EREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield is informed that the California State Division of Highways, in planning the future development of Highway 466 easterly from High~ay 99, is contemplating an interchange of traffic ~ith High~ay 99 and certain city streets for the proper and expedient divergence of traffic, and As an alternative to previous locations suggested by the State for the divergence of east-west traffic, certain officials of the Division of Highways and members of this Council have dis~ cussed the possibility of an interchange of traffic at a point on Highway 99 between California Avenue and the Santa Fe Railroad tracks, which location appears to merit further consideration and study by this Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDby the Council of the City of Bakersfield, as follows: 1. That the California State Division of High~ays is hereby requested to make a study of StateRoute 466 and its interchange of traffic with Highway 99 at a point'northerly of California Avenue and southerly of the Santa Fe Railroad, in the City of Bakersfield. ~. Th~_t said study be made with the view that said inter~ change will become a part of an eventual freeway extending easterly from Highway 99 at said point to connect State Route 466- 3. That said study include p~ovisions for the construction of paved streets connecting with California Avenue to the east of Highway 99, concurrently with the construction of any such interchange at Highway 99. 4. That the study herein requested include the connection with California Avenue at Highway 99, and the proposed freeway route (State Route 466) tc the east, at least as far as Morning Drive. 5o That this Council, although desirous of obtaining the study as herein requested, does not in any manner 'rescind its previous action requesting priority for .the construction of the proposed north- south highway or freeway westerly of the residential area of Bakers- field as set forth in Resolution NO. 8-56, adopted February 6, 1956, a copy of which is on file with the California State Division of Highways. · ' 6. That this Council requires the completion of work on State Route 141 (Oak Street) as requested in letter from the Director of Public Works, City of Bakersfield, to Mr. I~ank Durkee, "Director of Public Works, .State of California, dated February 17, 1956, w~itten at the direction of ~his Council, relating to the widening of Oak Street (State Route 141) to four (4) lanes and an adequate grade separation over the Santa Fe Railroad tracks. 7. That upon completion of the study herein requested, a copy thereof be submitted to this Council for its consideration and recommendations. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on the i9th day of March, 1956, by the following vote: AYES: CARNAKIS, COLLINS, CROES, DOOLIN, EVELETH, SCH'NE}'i'ZER, SULLIVAN.
