RESOLUTION NO. 81-55
WHEREAS, by virtue of !raffic Ordinance No. 658, ~ew Series
of the City of Bakersfield, other than paral~el parking is pro-
, hibited in said City, with certain exceptions, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Council of the City of Bakers.
field to make available to said CitYa such proportiona~e share from
the state Highway Fund as may be allocated to it for expenditure
toward the construction and maintenance of major city streets end
of secondary streets in said City, as provided by Sections 1941
195 and 2107 of the Streets and Highways Code of the state of Cali-
fornia.
, In compliance with a requeot from the Division of Highways
of the State of California, and as a condition to receiving any
portion of saId State Highway Fund, it is deemed necessary and to
the best interests of the citizens of this City, that parallel
parking of vehicles upon certain streets of said City be. reestablished,
and that the provisions of Section 588 (a) o~ the Vehiele,Code of
the state of California, be complied with, with respect to parallel
parking of vehicles upon streets within said City.
. NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
,Bakersfield, as follows:
1. That angle parking of vehicles be and the same is hereby
prohibited upon Union Avenue between Niles street and Bernard Street~
and upon Chester Avenue between Truxtun Avenue and 24th Street, in
said city, and upon all other streets in said City which may bo
constructed or maintained wholly or in part with money allocated
to said City from the state Highuay Fund for suoh purpose.
2. The duly and regularly appointed Traffic Authority of the
City of Bakersfield, is hereby authorized and instructed to properly

mark Union Avenue between Iiles Street and ,Bernard. street, and
Chester Avenue between TruxtunAvenue ,and 24th ~trset, so as to
indicate parallel parking of vehicles upon those portions of said
streets, upon the completion of the improvement of said streets.
3. Said Traffic Authority of the City of Bakersfield, is
hereby further authorized and instEucted to properly mark for
parallel parking all other streets in said City which may be
constructed or maintained wholly or in part with money allocated
to said City from the State Highway Fund for such purpose~
4.. The City Clerk i8 hereby directed to forward two csrtifled
copies of this resolution to the Division of Highways of the Depart-
ment of Public Works of the State of California.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution ~as passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meet-
ing thereof held on the 28th day of November, 1955, ,by ,the following
