RESOLUTION OF THE+ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFiELD CDLIFORNIA, E-ADOPTING
ESOLUTiON 68-~5 ~ DIRECTING NOTICE BE
GIVE. N INVITING PROPOSALS FOR WOR~ TO BE
DOE IN THE MATTER OF THE IMPROVEMENT OF
H STREET BET':EEN THE CENTER LIE OF GOLDEN
ST~.TE AVENUE .~:ND THE SOUTPE'~ESTERLY RIGHT 0F
WAY LINE OF THE SOUTHERN P~CIFIC RAILR0~D,
IN PUBLIC IMPROVE~MENT DISTRICT 715, IN SAID
CITY
The City Council of the City of Bakersfield, State of Calif-
ornia, pursuant to the provisions of the "Improvement Act of 1911",
being'Division VII of the Streets and Highways Code of the State
of California, does hereby find that no written objections have been
received to the proposed deletion of the sidewalk construction and
work from the work described in Resolution of Intention 715, con-
cerning Public Improvement District 715 of this City, and said City
Council does resolve as follows:
That Resolution No. 68-55 of this City Council, adopted on the
10th day of October, 1955, concerning the ordering of the work to
be done under Resolution of Intention 715, as modified, be and the
same is hereby re-adopted and confirmed.
That the Work so to be done in said City is described as follows:
The improvement of H Street between the center
line of Golien State Avenue-and the Southwesterly
right of way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad,
said improvements to consist of the following:
The paving of the present unimproved roadway with

4 inches of plant-mixed surfacing placed on inches
of imported borrow; the construction of Portland
cement concrete curb, gutter and d~iveways on both
sides of the said H Street; the construction of
Portland cement concrete curb, gutter 'and returns
at the intersection of said H Streetbwith 32nd
Street~ and the construction of a 12 inch corru-
gated metal pipe storm drain with necessary catch
basins in the said intersection of H Street and
32rid Street extending into the intersection of H
Street and Golden State Avenue,

That the City Clerk of the said-City:~f Bakersfield is hereby
directed to post a notice of said work conspicuously for five
(5) days on or near the Council Chamber door of the meeting place
of the said City Council, inviting sealed proposals or bids for
doing the work ordered~ said City Clerk is also directed to publish
twice in the "Bakersfield Californian", a daily newspaper of
general circulation, printed, published and circulated daily in
the City of Bakersfield, and hereby designated by said City Council
for that purpose, a notice inviting such proposals and referring
to the plans and specifications on file.
That all proposals or bids offered shall be accompanied
by a check payable to the City of Bakersfield, certified by
a responsible bank, for an amount which shall not be less than
ten (10) per cent of the aggregate of the proposal, or by a bond
for the said amount and so payable, signed by the bidder and two
sureties who shall testify before an officer'competent to adminis-
ter oath, in double the said amount and over and above all statu-
tory exemptions, or by a corporate surety bond to the satisfaction
and approval of the Street Superintendent of the City of Bakers-
field, California.
That said sealed proposals or bids shall be delivered to the
Ex-officio Clerk of said City Council, to wit, to the City Clerk of
the City of Bakersfield, not later than the hour of 5:00 P.M. on
the 7th day of November, 1955, said time being not less than
ten (10) days from the time of the first publication and posting
of said notice. Said sealed proposals or bids shall be publicly
opened and read at the regular meeting of the City Council of said
City of Bakersfield at 8:00 P.M. on said date.

I HEREBY CEMTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly
passed and adopted ,by the City Council of the City of Bakersfield
on the 24th day of October, 1955, by the following vote:
AYES: CARNAt(IS, COLLINS, CROES, DOOLIN, EVELETH, SCHWEITZER, SULLIVAN.
