COUNTY OF ~RN, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, CONTIGUOUS TO TEE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, DESIGNATED AS '~GREATER BAKERSFIELD METROPOL]iT~LN ~HEREAS, on August 15, 1955, a petition was presented to Council of the City'of.Bakersfield requesting the Council to give its consent to the commencement of ~nnexation proceedings in nection with that certain inhabited territory therein referred to and particularly described, which is contiguous to the City of Bakersfield; and WHEREAS, said petition was ~eferred to the Planning Commission of the City of Bakersfield for investigation, report smd recon~aenda- tion; and ~tEREAS, the Planning Commission rendered its report and recommendation to the Council on the 26th day of August, 1955~ favoring the commencement of ar~nexation proceedings; and WHEREAS, the County Boundary Commission of Kern County has heretofore approved the proposed boundary of said territory as to definiteness and certainty; and WHT~qEAS, it is the desire of the Council to give its consent to the commencement of such annexation p~oceedings upon condition that the electors within said territory be i~formed at the 'ti~s the petition for annexation is circulated that the questSon. to be sub- mitted to said electors shall be ~hether the territory shall be annexed to the City of Bakersfield. and the property in the territory to be annexed be subjected to taxation after annexation ~equaily ~lth the property within the City of Bake~sfield~ to pay the bonded indebtedness of the City of Bakersfield outsts~di~g for the acquisition~ construction or completion of municipal i~provements, p~ovided~ however, that the real property located within the Mt. Vernon Sanitation District and the property located within the North of River Sanitary District, shall not be subjected to taxation for the payment of the outstanding indebtedness for the sewage disposal plant of the City of Bakersfield until after payment in full by said Districts of their respective outstanding bonded indebtednesses. NOW, TEERE,ORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: .1. That consent be and hereby is granted for the comencement of annexation proceedings in connection with said inhabited territory in accordance with the Annexation Act of 1913 provided the petition for annexation contains a request that the question to be submitted to the electors residing in the territory proposed to bs annexed shall bs whether the territory shall be annexed to the City of Bakersfield and the property in the territory to bs ~n~exed be subjected to taxation after annexation equally with the property within the City of Bakersfield, to pay the bonded indebtedness of the City of Bakers- field outstanding for the acquisition~ construction or completion of municipal improvements, provided~ however~ that the real property located within the Mt. Vernon Sanitatio~ District and the property located within the North or River Sanitary District~ shall not be subjected to taxation for the payment of the outstanding indebtedness for the sewage disposal plant of the City of Bakersfield until after payment in full by said Districts of their respective outstanding bonded indebtednesses. 2. That said unincorporated territory be and hereby is designated as the "Greater Bakersfield Met~opolitanA~ea"~ a description of which is attached hereto marked Exhibit ~ ands'made a part hereof as if set forth in full herein. 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
