WHEREAS, State Route 166 (SR 57) is a critical highway
link between the coastal area and the valley area of the State of
California; and
WHEREAS, this highway is currently substandard in width
and alignment; and
WHEREAS, the economy of the City of Bakersfield would
benefit by the improvement of this highway; and
WHEREAS, portions of this route have been engineered
and rights-of-way have been acquired,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the
City of Bakersfield does urge the California Highway Commission to
make available in its 1967-68 budget the necessary funds for the
further improvement of Route 166 (SR 57) as an expressway.
