A RESOLUTION E~ORS~NG THE KERN CODNTY
PLANNING COMMISSION PROPOSAL OF A KERN
RIVER ~TROPOLITANRECREATIONAL AREA°
WHEREAS, the Kern County Planning Commission on
December 17, 1965 nmde public a proposal for a Kern River Mettoo
polLtan Recreational Area, and
WHEREAS, the proposal for a Kern River Metropolitan
Recreational Area~ as announced by the Kern County Planning Commis=
.sion would follow the course of the Kern River from the Kern Golf
Course to Buena Vista Xoad, and
W~EREAS~ the December 17, 1965 proposal of the Kern County
Planning Commission is consistent with the Metropolitan General
Plan and appears to be a further step in implementation of said
General Plan, and
WHEREA. S, it is the understanding of the City Council of
the City of Bakersfield ~hat approximately six htmdred thousand
dollars will be received by the County of Kern from the State Bond
issue passed in the November~ 1964 general election for the specific
purpose of improving and acquiring state, county, regional and
'municipal recreational facilities such as a Kern River Metropolitan
Recreational Area, and
WHEREAS, the proposal of a Kern River Metropolitan
Recreational A~ea would be of inm~easurable benefit to the citizens
of Bakersfield and the surrounding area.
NOW~ TMEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by ~he City Council of the
City of Bakersfield that said City Council hereby goes on record
endorsing the proposal of the ~ern County Planning Commission~
made public December 179 1965, for a Kern River Metropolitan
Recreational Area°
BE IT FURTHERRESOLVED~ that the City Council of the
City of Bakersfield urges the Board of Supervisors of Kern County
to proceed to acquire and develop the proposed Keru River Metro~
poli~an Recreational Area,

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 17th day of January, 1966~ by
the following vote:
