WK{EREAS~ this Council duly and regularly called and
provided for the holding of a special election within the City of
Bakersfield on November 3~ 1964~ for the purpose of submitting the
following proposition to the voters:

for the holding of a general election on said 3rd day of November~
1964~ for the purpose of electing a Mayor in said City~ as follows~

AND WMEBEAS~ said special and general elections were duly
and regularly consolidated with the S~ate General Election held in
said City on November 3~ 1964~ and the Board of Supervisors of
the County of Kern was duly authorized to canvass the returns of
said special and general elections~ and
WMEREAS~ maid Board of Supez~;isors~ through special
canvassing boards appointed by it~ duly canvassed the absentee
ballots cast a~ said elections~ and ordered the County Clerk of the
County of Kern to canvass all of the re~uL~ns of said elections~
and said Board has adopted its resolution s~ating the result~ of
said elections~ and ~he Clerk of said Board has entered in the
records of said Board statements of said results~ and the Clerk of
said Board has transmitted to the Clerk of this Council a certified
copy of said resolution and the same has been presented to this
Council o
NOW~ TMEREFO~ the Council of the City of Bakersfield
does ~R~BY RESOLVED DETERMINEs tND DECLARE AS FOLLOWS ~

certified to this Council as aforesaid, it appears and this Council
hereby finds and declares that the total number of votes cas~ at
the respective election precincts established for said special and
general elections upon the propositions hereinabove set forth and
for the office of I~yor~ and for and against said propositions~ and
the total n~mber of absentee votes cast at said election upon said
propositions and for and against said propositions and for the
