BE USED AS THE BASIS 'FOR .DIVIDING GAS.
"..·. TAX MONIES BETWEEN THE COUNTY. AND CITIES,. "'
WHEREAS, the Collier-Unruh .L~al Transportation Act
(SB-344) has been enacted into law, 'and-
WHEREAS', the .enactment provides that the additional'
revenue. to~ accrue from this' act is to' be divided between the'
counties, and
WHEREAS, the enactment includes provisions for.the addi-
tional gas tax monies to be divided '.between' the .citieS' and counties
On'a different basis other than asses'sed valuation Within th~
county,· and. -. "
WHEREAS, ·other counties and cities ·have agreed. to use
population as a basis for the division of-.'the gas tax monies
between.:. the cities and counties within the county, 'and
.WHEREAS, the use of streets and highways is most fairly
and equitably related to population instead-o.f 'assessed valdation,
'NOW., THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City.'of
Bakers·field lhereby proposes to the Board of S. upervisors 6f.'Kern
County-that the division of the additional gas' tax monies reSuiting
from the COilier-Unruh LOcal Transpor,tation Act .be divided between
the cities and the County on the basis Of population.
