A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE.CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD FIXING A TIME AND PLACE FOR HEARING
PROTESTS BY PERSONS OWNING REAL PROPERTY WITHIN
TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS ".OSWELL NO. 3,"PRO-
POSED TO BE ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
WHEREAS, a petition was filed with'the C.0uncil of the
City of·Bakersfi~ld on the 7th' day of December, 1962, requesting
that-certain uninhabited territory therein 'described. be annexed to
and incorporated within the City of Bakersfield, and'
WHEREAS, said petition was signed by the owners of not
less than one-fourth (1/4) of the area of the land in such
territory, and representing not less ·than one-fourth (1/'4) of the
assessed value of such territory according to the last preceding
equalized assessment roll of the County of Kern.
NOW, THEREFORE, in compliance with th'e provisions Of the
Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of. !939', Chapter 297, as
amended, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of.Bakersfield,
as follows:
That the boundaries of the territory/SO 'proposed to'be"
annexed to the City of Bakersfield are described as·· follows:,
· A parcel of land situate in the CoUnty of ·Kern, State of California,
and being a portion of Sections 14, 22 and 23, Township 29 South,
Range 28 East, M.D.M;
beginning at the intersection of the prolongation of the easterly
right of way line of Mt. Vernon'Avenue, Of 110 feet in width, and
the northerly boundary of said SectiOn 22, .a point on the current
Corporate boundary of the City of Bakersfield;
THENCE (1) easterly, northerly and easterly, along 'the corporate
boundary as defined by Ordinances numbered 1267., 1291,
· 1347, 1354 and 1382, New Series, to the northeast
corner of the southwest ~uarter (S.W.1/4) of the
southwest quarter (S.W.14) of said Section' 14;.

along the easterly boundary of the southwest quarter
(S.W.1/4) of the southwest quarter (S.W.1/4) of said

Section 14, and the easterly boundary of the northwest
quarter (N.W.1/4) of the northwest quarter (N.W.1/4)
of said Section 23~ to intersect a line parallel with
and distant 55 feet southerly as measured perpendicular
to ~the northerly boundary of said Section 23;
westerly along last named parallel line 'and along a
line.parallel with'and distant 55 feet southerly, as
measured perpendicular to the northerly boundary of
said Section 21 to intersect.the east line of "the
· North 208.71 feet of the West ,208.71 feet of Section
22, as per grant deed recorded September 6, 1961, in
Book 3412 at page 535, in the office · of the County
Recorder of said Kern County;
southerly along last named ~east' line to the southeast
corner of said.grant deed;+
zwesterly.along' the south-line of said grant deed 153.71
feet to intersect the east right of way line of Mr.
Vernon Avenue, of 110 feet in width;
THENCE (6) northerly along the 'last .named· right of way line
'208.71 feet to the point of beginning, containing
47,249 acres of land, more or less.
That a designation appropriately 'naming such territory
is "OSWELL NO. 3."
BE IT FURTHER' RESOLVED, that Monday the 2ist 'day of
January, 1963, at the hour of eight o'dlock P.M.,=·in 'the Council
Chambers of the City Hall, 1501 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield,
'.California,· iS the time when and'the place'where any person owning
· real property within such territory so proposed to be annexed and
having any objections to the proposed annexation may appear+before
the Council of the City of Bakersfield,' and show cause why such
territory should not be annexed.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ResolutiOn.was
passed and adopted by the Councilof the City of 'Bakersfiei'd at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 10th. day of December, 1963,
by the following vote:
