A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD PROVIDING FOR THE CONSOLIDATION
OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION WITH THE
STATE' DIRECT PRIMARY "ELECTION TO BE HELD ON
JUNE 5, 1962, AND RE.QUESTING THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF KERN TO ORDER
THE CONSOLIDATION OF-SAID ELECTIONS.

WHEREAS, on January 22, 1962, Ordinance No..1403, New Series,
was duly. adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield,.by the
provisions. of which the boundaries of the seven wards of the City were
altered in order that each ward shall contain~ as nearly as possible,
an equal number of qualified registered electors therein, in accordance
with'Section 11.1 of'the Charter of.the City.of Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, said Charter provides that said Ordinance shall be
submitted.~.to referendum; and
WHEREAS, on the 19th day .'of March , 1962, this Council did
pass.~'and adopt Resolution No. 16-62 calling a special municipal
election to be held in the City of Bakers field, on the 5th day of
June, 1962, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified registered
electors of said City, a proposition for the approval or-rejection of
Ordinance No. 1403, New Series; and
WHEREAS,-it is the desire of' this Council that said special
municipal election be consolidated with the State DireCt Primary
'~:~ection~ to be held June 5th, 1962,
'NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakers field as follows':
!'. That the Board of SuperVisors of the county of Kern, is
hereby requested to make an order, pursuant to Section 23302 of the
Government Code of the State of California consolidating .the special
~unicipal election called by the Council of the City of Bakers field
for June 5, 1962, with 'the State Direct 'Primary Election-. to be. held
o~!:.the Same date.
2. That. the .form of the proplosition to be voted upon at said
election, as the same is to appear on the 'ballot, be 'as follows:
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD REFERENDUM: An
ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE
ALTERING THE BOUNDARIES OF EACH OF THE
SEVEN WARDS' OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
CALIFORNIA." This ordinance will alter
the boundaries of the wards in order
that each ward shall contain as nearly
as possible, an equal number of
qualified registered electors therein.

3. That within the City of Bakersfield the precincts, polling
places and officers of election for said special municipal election
shall be the same as those provided for said State Direct Primary
Election within said City.
4. That the Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern is
hereby authorized to canvass the returns' of said special municipal
election, and shall certify the results of the canvass of said
returns to the Council of.the City of Bakersfield, who shall thereupon
declare' the results thereof.
15. That the Clerk of the Council is hereby directed to transmit
and file certified copies of this resolution with said Board 'of
Supervisors and the Clerk of Kern County, as required by Section 23302
of the Elections Code of the State of California.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ReSolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakers field at a. regular meeting
thereof held on the 12th day of March, 1962,' by the following vote:
