A RESOLUTION OF THE BAKERSFIELD CITY COUNCIL
HONORING L. Wo HEDGE, PRINCIPAL OF BAKERSFIELD
HIGH SCHOOL, AND DECLARING FEBRUARY 27, 1962,
TO BE "LES HEDGE" DAY.
WHEREAS, L. W. Hedge has ably served as the principal of
Bakersfield High School for the past. twenty-two years; and
WHEREAS, his years as principal have represented an outstanding
period of service and leadership on the campus, and throughout the
state; and
WHEREAS, he has offered valuable direction both in state and
national capacities through the presidency· of California Association of
Secondary School Administrators, the board of directors of National
Association of Secondary School Principals, and the development of a
statewide accreditation program; and
WHEREAS, Bakersfield High School has attained highest stature
among the high schools of California and the nation in the areas of
scholarship, curriculum development, . and student activities; and
WHEREAS,. during his stewardship Bakersfield· High SchOol has gone
through many trying periods including a war and an earthquake with the
resultant ·problems ~and solutions pertaining to campus morale', student
overload, and plant rebuilding; and
WHEREAS, he has ably served his community through added responsi-
bilities in civic groups, such as the Young Men~s Christian Association,
Rotary, and others; and ·'
WHEREAS, he has announced his resignation as principalof
Bakersfield High School on or about March 1, 1962,

declarea to be "Les .Hedge" day in 'the City of Bakers field.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that .the .Council of the City of .'
BakerSfield, commends L. W. Hedge for 'his outstanding contribution
to the community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be
forwarded to L. W. 'Hedge and to the Student Committee 'for the Recognition
of L. W. Hedge..

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 29th day of January, 1962, by the following vote:
