A RESOLUTION OF THE 'COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE
FIRST WARD OF SAID CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF.
FILLING, A VACANCY ON SAID COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, a vacancy has occurred in the-office of Councilman
'f~om the First Ward by virtue .·of the'resignation from office of
Councilman Henry H. Collins, and
WHEREAS, electors in the First Ward equal in number. to more
than twenty-five per cent of the total vote cast for councilmen therein
at the last general election ·petitione'd the city council p~aying for
a special election to fill such vacancy, .and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the City Charter of the City of Bakersfield
it is mandatory upon the'City CounCil.to ~ali a'special election for
the purpose of filling said vacancy~
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED'by the .EounCilof the City of
Bakersfield, that a special election be held and the same'is hereby
called to beheld in the First Ward.of said City,. for the Purpose of
filling for the unexpired term of Councilman for th'e First Ward the
.vacancy existing, which election shall be ~eld On Tuesday, the'20th
day of February, 196~. '
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that'the candidates for the ~ffice·of
Councilman from the First Ward shallfile with'the City Clerk their
declarations~ of candidacy and. petitions for nomination in 'the form
and manner and within the time prescribed.by Ordinance No. 1385, New
Series,.of the City of Bakersfield.·
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of' the City'of Bakersfield at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 6th day of November, 1961, by th~ following vote+:
