RESOLUTION URGING CITIZENS TO AVAIL
THEMSELVES OF CURRENT CIVIL DEFENSE
PROGRAMS.
WHEREAS, the worsening international situation has caused great
alarm in the minds of the citizenry both nationally and locally, and
WHEREAS', volunteer groups of citizens are organizing to pro-
mote interest in Civil Defense matters, and
WHEREAS, the Citizens Survival Committee is one such group
vitally interested in the education of the public in Civil Defense'
matters, and
WHEREAS, the purpose of such groups as the Citizens Survival
Committee is to augment and aid in co-ordinating the Civil Defense
program for Kern County, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bakers field whole-
heartedly supports such activities as above set forth,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield that all citizens are hereby urged to avail themselves of
the current Civil Defense training programs sponsored by the Kern
County Office of Civil Defense.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting
thereof held on the llth day of September, 1961, by the following vote:
