HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 81-61RESOLUTION NO. 81-61 NAMING CITY OF BAKERSFIELD THE SISTER-CITY OF WAKAYAMA JAPAN UNDER THE PEOPLE-TO-PEOPLE PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City of Wakayama, Japan, has through its city council passed a resolution July 14, 1961, adopting the City of Bakers- field as its Sister-City; and WHEREAS, the town affiliation known as the Sister-City program is an important part of the People to People program, designed to promote mutual understanding and good will by an inter-change of ideas, materials and visits; and WHEREAS, the People to People program has as its aim the removal of misunderstandings that hinder disarmament, the building of a safeguarded peace, and the strengthening of freedom, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby name the City of Bakersfield as the sister-city of Wakayama, Japan, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Mayor of said City. o0o I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on the 21st day of August, 1961, by the following vote: AYES: NOES: ABSENT: ABSTAINING; ' MARIAN S.~ IRVIN CiTY CLEKK and Ex-OrIicio CLerk or the -' Council of the City of Bakers field. dity fie ld.
