RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AUTHORIZING ~ THE MAYOR TO EXE-
CUTE THAT_ CERTAIN AGREEMENT WITH THE
STATE, OF~ CALIFORNIA FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF A FREEWAY~ ON THAT CERTAIN SECTION~ OF
STATE ~HIGHWAY ROUTE. 57 BETWEEN "M, STREET
AND THE.EASTERN CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY 0F
BAKERSFIELD .....
WHEREAS, the California Highway Commission has adopted a
resolutiOn'on September 19, 1958, declaring that certain section
of State Highway Route 57 in the City of Bakersfield and County of
Kern. between "M" Street and 2.7 miles east of Morning Drive to
be a freeway; and
WHEREAS, the State of California and the City of Bakersfield
desire to enter in an agreement for the closing of City streets,
relocation of City streets. construction of frontage roads and
other local roads, and the control and maintenance of relocated or
reconstructed City streets;
NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield. that the Mayor be and hereby is authorized to
execute that certain FREEWAY AGREEMENT by and between the City of
Bakersfield and the State of CalifOrnia, Department of Public Works,
Division of Highways, hereto attached.
I HEREBY CERTIFY ~hat the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a special
meeting thereof held on the 17th day of July, 1961, by the following
