BAK~RSFIF. LD APPROVING TH]5 AGREEMENT WITH·
TH~ STATE OP CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OP PUBLIC
WORKS, DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS~ FOR THE PROPOSED
CONSTRUCTION ON ·UNION AVBNIFE BETWEEN IRENE
STREET AND PANORAMA DRIVE KNOWN AS PROJECT.

WH~R~.AS, Section 143.3 of the Caii'f0rn'ia Streets and Highways
Code provides that State Highway Funds may be allocated for expendi-
ture. on the urban extensions of'the 'Federal-a~d SecOndary system
upon projects .selected by the cities and icounties in cooperation
ldth the state; and
WHEREAS, a project has been selected by the. City of Bakersfield
and approved by the California Highway Commission for the improvement
of Union Avenue between Irene Street a~d Panorama DriVe .kno~ as
:~oje~tt VI-Ker-Bkd-FAS 887, UB-1 in the City of Bakersfield; and
~~S, S~a~e Highway [unds are now available for ~he
project; and
~~S~ the Department of Public Works of the State of
California is required to enter into an agreement with the City of
Bakersfield relative' to the prosecution of the :projeCt.
NOW~ TH~EP~E~ BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield that the City of Bakersfield by its authorized agents
enter into an agreement wi~h the State of California~ Department of
~blic Works~ for the construction of works~ known as Project VI-Ker-
Bkd-FAS 887 ~ U~-I.
