A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL'OP'THE CITY
OF BAKBRSPIELD REQUESTING AN INTERCHANGE-
AT MT. VERNON AVENUE AND STATE ROUTE 58
PREBWAY.
WHEREAS, it is understood that the State of California, Depart-
ment'.of Public Works, Division of Highways, is presently in the
process of designing a proposed freeway, State Route 58, extending..
from State Route 4 to'Mullet. Road; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield Master Street and Highway Plan,
adopted by the.Bakersfield City'CdUncil on June. 25, 1960, Contemplates
Mr..Vernon Avenue as a.major arterial; and
WHERT=AS, it is important that consideration be given in said
proposed design to locations of interchanges at'future city streets;
and
WHEREAS, there is no existing city street crossing the adopted
freeway route on an extensien of Mr.-Vernon'Avenue, b~t that such
extension iS contemplated; and
· WRERBAS, the' City Bngineer,'.bas.ed upon the Master Street and
Highway P~an for this city, recommends that an interchange' be pro-
vided in said proposed plan at theintersection of Mr. Vernon Avenue
and State Route 58.
NOW, THEREPORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by. t.he City. Council of
the. City.of Bakersfield, State of.California, as follows:
The California Highway Commission is'respectfully requested
to provide, at State expense at the time of freeway Construction, for
',an. iu~erch~ge to.connect ,wi~._M~_YFr~pp Avenue ,~n~th:e,.~S.~gn of
said freeway and, '
That two'certified copies of this.. resolution be sent to Mr.
William C. Welch, District' Engineer, District VI, Division of High-
ways. Department of Public'Works. Box. 1352, Fresno 15.'California.
