A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD OPPOSING THE APPLICATION FOR A
RATE CHANGE IN CASE NO. 8972 BEFORE THE
PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, an application has been filed by certain persons
residing in the City of Bakersfield with the Public Utilities
Commission of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, by Order of the Commission dated January 18,
1966 in Application No. 48069 'provision was made to maintain the
rate structure of what was formerly the Crest Water Company at the
time of transfer of facilities to the California Water Service
Company; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes the 'present rate
structure throughout Bakersfield to be fair and equitable to rate-
· payers throughout the city including ratepayers in the former
Crest area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
1. The City Council o'p'poses the application for a rate
change in Case No. 8972 since it could result in a burden on other
ratepayers in the City of Bakersfield.
2. That no rate change aimed at removing the differential
between the ratepayers in the former Crest Water Company area and
the rest of the California Water Service Company area be considered
until the capital costs of the water system in the Crest area be
fully amortized.
3. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the
Public Utilities Commission of the State of CalifOrnia.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
'passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 6th day of October, 1969, by
the following vote:
